Rudraksha is a seed which is used as a prayer bead, particularly in Shaivism. Rudraksha seeds, which are also known as blueberry beads, have a blue outer shell when they are mature. Several different species of huge, evergreen, broad-leaved trees in the genus Elaeocarpus produce the seeds.
