Bharadwaja

He is one of the greatest saints of the Vedic period and also a descendant of the sage Angirasa. His father Devarasi is Jupiter. Rishi Bharadwaj is the author of Ayurveda. He is the father of Guru Dronacharya and his ashram still exists in Allahabad. He was also proficient in advanced military arts including Devastras. His wife Sushila is with whom he had a daughter named Devavarini and son Garga.

Vishwamitra

Sage Vishwamitra is one of the most famous saints to have discovered the Gayatri Mantra found in the Vedas. Usually, one cannot rise to the level of Brahmrishi through merit alone, because the order was divinely created and ordained by Lord Brahma. However, Vishwamitra rose to the status of Brahmrishi through his ability alone.

Vasishtha

Rishi Vasistha is one of the Saptarshis of this Manvantara and husband of Arundhati. He is the mind-born son of Lord Brahma and the king-guru of the Surya dynasty or of the solar dynasty. He is the author of the Vasistha Samhita, a treatise on electoral astrology. He and his family are glorified in a hymn in the Rigveda.

Gautama

Gautama Rishi is of Angiras dynasty. His sons were Vamadeva, Nikah, Shatananda and one of the earliest writers of the law. He also wrote the Gautama Dharma Sutra and the Rig and Sama Vedic mantras.

Atri

Rishi Atri is one of the Saptarshis and a son of Brahma in the present manvantara. He is one of the sages who propounded the holy sutra (punal). Rishi Atri wife is Anasuya, who is a symbol of purity. He is considered one of the great explorers of sacred mantras. Atri Samhita and Atri Smriti are two acts of the great sage.

Kashyapa

Kashyapa Rishi is one of the most popular ancient sages and Saptarshis. He is the son of sage Marichi and grandson of Brahma. He was the father of Devas, Asuras, Nagas, Garuda, Vamana, Agni, Aditya, Daitya, Aryaman, Mitra, Pusan, Varuna and all of humanity.

Jamadagni

Jamadagni is the father of Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. Also a descendant of sage Bhrigu, one of the Prajapatis created by Brahma. His wife was Renuka, who, with the power of her purity, brought water from the river in an un-clay pot. One day his mind was filled with desire when a group of Gandharvas are passing in the sky. The vessel dissolved. She does not come home for fear of her husband. Knowing his yogic powers, Jamadagni asked Parasurama to kill his mother, which he did.
