01 INCARNATION- MATSYA SHALIGRAM

Kurma is the second form of Lord Krishnas incarnation. At the Churning of the Ocean, Vishnu as Kurma ( the tostoise) offered his back as a pivot on which to rest the Mount Mandara, used as a churning stick by gods and demons during Sagar Manthan. Airavat, the king-god of elephants, is the mount of God Indra. This elephant emerged out of the waters when ocean was churned by the Gods. That is why the name is derived from Iravat, (one produced by water). Elephant who takes part in the defence and protection. The chief amongst them is Airavat of Indra. Airavat has four tusks, and is white in color. Worshipping this shaligram provides immense protection. No black magic or occult works on the beholder of this Shila. ANANTA SHESHA SHALIGRAM

Shesh Nag, the serpent god, has been venerated and worshipped by many for centuries. He is considered to be the king of infernal regions called Patal. Lord Vishnu sleeps over the bed of its coils during intervals of creation. Vishnu wound Ananta-Sesha round the celestial mount to create the cosmic churn. Ananta represents attraction, charisma, solitude, closeness, and a place where nobody can get disturbed by the outside world. Ananta is also represented as one supporting the world on its hood. Bagala or Bagalamukhi is the eighth Mahavidya in the famous series of the 10 Mahavidyas. She is identified with the second night of courage and is the power or Shakti of cruelty. She is described as the Devi with three eyes, wearing yellow clothes and gems, moon as her diadem, wearing champaka blossoms. The one who is seated on the right of Bagalamukhi is the Maharudra, with one face, who dissolves the universe.
Baglamukhi, the Goddess who seizes the Tongue and enemies. The pulling of the demon's tongue by Bagalamukhi is both unique and significant. Tongue, the organ of speech and taste, is often regarded as a lying entity, concealing what is there inside the mind. The Bible frequently mentions the tongue as an organ of mischief, vanity and deceitfulness. The wrenching of the demon's tongue is therefore symbolic of the Goddess removing what is in essentiality a perpetrator of evil. Three eyes, wearing yellow clothes and gems, moon as her diadem, wearing champaka blossoms, with one hand holding the tongue of an enemy and with the left hand spiking him.

Chandrama shaligrama is very powerful Shaligrama as it controls the temper of the individual. The Chandra Shila helps the worshpper to remove obstacles on his way and let the works be accomplished in the most satisfying way. Chandra Shila also denotes itself of beauty. The men and the women who are looking for their prospective bride grooms can immensely be benefitted by the worship of the Chandra Shilas. It increases the capacity to derive pleasures and take the life to tranquality. The worshipper attains moksha who does regular puja with devotion.

CHATURBHUJ NARAYAN SHALIGRAM

One who has four hands". It is famous that Maha Vishnu has four hands and they carry the Conch, the Discus, the Mace, and the Lotus. According to the Puranas, these four are used by the Lord in maintaining Dharma among mankind. The 'Conch' calls man to the righteous path that directly leads to Peace and Perfection, the Divine Vishnupada. Very many of us in the enchantment of the immediate sense-joys refuse to listen to the small inner voice of conscience,the sound of the Paanchajanya-conch, and so He wields the 'Mace' and we come to suffer small calamities and tragic jerks in our smooth existence -communal, social or national. If still the individual is not listening to the call of the 'Conch', the wheel-of-time, Chakra annihilates the entire. The call and the punishment are all only to take man towards his Ultimate Goal, represented by the "Lotus" in His hand. Subjectively Vishnu is the Self within, who manifests as the four-armed 'subtle-body' to serve as the Eesa of the gross physical structure, in all its actions and protect it with existence. The "Subtle-body" as the inner-equipment (Antah-Karana) functions as four mighty powers -mind, intellect, chit and ego. Chit is the 'Lotus', intellect is the 'Conch', ego is the 'Mace', and mind is the 'Discus'. All these four are wielded by the One Infinite Blue-bodied Narayana, clothed in His 'yellow garb', manifesting to maintain and sustain the world of good and evil. Since the Self functions thus in a four-fold pattern, Vishnu has the appellation, "the four-armed Lord."

DAMODARA KRISHNA SHALIGRAM

Who was "bound by the waist" by His mother Yashoda as a punishment for stealing butter. The students can gain immensely by worship of this Shila as it tremendously increaes the memory retention power and concentration. The worshipper desires are fulfilled and besides getting worldly comforts he helps the society to improve by carrying austerities and philanthropic activities. DEVI MANSAROVAR SHALIGRAM

According to Hindu mythology, Mansarovar is a creation of Lord Brahma, the God of Creation. The sons of Lord Brahma lacked a sufficient site to perform rites, so they called Brahma, their holy Father, for help. As a result, Mansarovar was created. His sons spent 12 years at the lake performing austerities. Devi Mansarover is worshipped by the Hindus as it fulfills all desires at the same time grant salvation to the devotee. Hayagriva is a avatar of Vishnu. He is depicted as a human being with a horse's head, and represents knowledge and wisdom. According to Adi Sankara on the Vishnu Sahasranama, Janardanah means "One who inflicts suffering on evil men." Alternatively, it means, "He to whom all devotees pray for wordly success and liberation." The term Ardayati is a verb meaning both 'giving sorrow' or 'giving joy'. Thus, One who gives sorrow and disaster to the vicious, and who blesses with joy and peace to the good people is called Janaardanah. Vishnuh -The term Vishnu is dissolved as Veveshti Vyaapnoti iti Vishnuh-That which pervades every- where is Vishnu. That which has the nature of pervasiveness is Vishnu. He is the one who pervades all and nothing ever pervades Him. 'Eesaavaasyam Idam Sarvam'-All this is indwelt, pervaded by the Lord. This very same idea is described in the typical style of the Puranas, in the incarnation of the Lord as Vaamana, the short-boy, who, with His three feet, measured the entire universe. Because of this act, the Lord got the name Vishnu, says Mahaabhaarata. Vishnu Purana (3-1) says: The root Vis means 'to enter'. The entire world of things and beings is pervaded by Him and the Upanishad emphatically insists in its mantra 'whatever that is there is the world of change'. Hence it means that He is not limited by space (Desa), time (Kaala) or substance (Vastu).

PRADYUMNA SHALIGRAM

A son of Krishna in Dvaraka. He appears in Dvaraka and Mathura as the transcendental Cupid. He is a born leader. This Shila is considered as a very powerful shila. The devotee improves in his decision making capabilities and listen to his mind more as compared to his heart. The devotees actions are governed by his intellect and he further improves upon it. It is very good for students who lacks in concentration. The worshiper tremendously impoves his concentration. Puru-sattamah -One who is Greater among the great. Here the word Puru means ‘great’. In some readings we find instead of this term “Puru-sattamah” the term “Purushottamah” is used, in which case the meaning is the Omnipresent (Purusha) and the Best (Uttamah)-the Absolute Reality.
