Legend of Lord Narasimha

According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Narasimha manifested to protect his devotee Prahlada from his tyrant father, King Hiranyakashipu. King Hiranyakashipu had been granted a boon that made him virtually indestructible, and he became arrogant, believing himself to be invincible. However, his son Prahlada, a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, refused to worship his father as a deity and instead devoted himself to the Supreme Lord. Enraged by Prahlada's devotion to Vishnu, King Hiranyakashipu subjected his son to numerous tortures, attempting to dissuade him from his faith. When all his efforts failed, the king decided to kill Prahlada himself. In a climactic encounter, Lord Narasimha emerged from a pillar as a fierce combination of man and lion to protect his devotee.
