The third aspect of Goddess Durga is Chandraghanta. Worship her on the third day of the Navaratri festival. The form of Maa Chandraghanta is full of kindness and peace. On the forehead, she carries moon(Chandra) therefore she called Chandraghanta Mata.

This form of mother riding on her vehicle lion is ready to destroy the war and the wicked. Chandraghanta is also called the goddess of Swara. The third form of the Durga Mata is known to kill the demons. She originated only to protect religion and to remove darkness from the world. Goddess Chandraghanta killed the fierce demon forces and got the gods their escape. Goddess Chandraghanta is the Shakti form of Mother Durga. Those who destroy the suffering of the whole world. Chandraghanta signifying bravery and showering peace like a cool breeze in a moonlit night. She is always in a gesture as if prepared for fighting. Her roaring voice is like a violent sound of a bell that always makes the cruel Danava, Daitya and Rakshasas all to shiver.

Goddess Parvati transforms herself into Goddess Chandraghanta

Lord Shiva gave Parvati his word that he would not marry any woman, her sufferings overwhelmed lord shiva so much then he agrees to marry goddess Parvati. Soon, the happy moment of Parvatis life comes. Shiva brings a procession of gods, sages, ascetics, Aghoris, mortals, ghosts, goblins and Shivaganas at the place of King Himavan to take away his bride Parvati, on the occasion of his remarriage. Shiva arrives at King Himavans palace in an intimidating form and Parvatis mother Menavati Devi faints in fear. Parvati looks to Shiva and sees his fearsome appearance, so to save her parents and other family members she transforms herself into Goddess Chandraghanta. Chandraghanta convinced Shiva to re-appear in a charming form. On listening to the Goddess, Shiva looks like a prince decorated with infinite jewels. Parvati revived her father, mother and friends then Shiva and Parvati got married and made commitments to one another.

Shaligram Shala puja and Yajna services ensure that each priest takes a Sankalp before starting the puja with betel leaf, betel nut, flower and small qty. of rice. Since all priests are Kashi trained and are initiated, hence once the Sankalpa is taken individually by them, they are bound to complete the stated number Japas positively.
