Story of Goddess Durga and Mahishasura

As per the legends, Mahishasura was a king having buffalo head. He was a great devotee of Lord Brahma. After many years of penance, Lord Brahma was finally pleased and offered him a wish. He has gone mad by getting the power and demanded immortality. His asked god Brahma that he should not be killed by a man or animal of the whole earth. God granted him this wish and told that only a woman will be the end of him. As Mahishasura has the power of immortality he attacked Trilok (the three worlds of earth, heaven and hell) with his army. He also tried to capture the Indralok which is the kingdom of Lord Indra). Gods want to wage a war on Mahishasura but no one can defeat him due to the boon Lord Brahma. Therefore gods approached God Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu decided to create a goddess to defeat Mahishasura. They consulted with Lord Shiva and Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva combined all their powers together to give birth to Maa Durga. Maa Durga then fought Mahishasura over a time phase of fifteen days. During this time period, demon Mahishasura kept changing his shape and become different animals to misled her. Finally, when he transformed into a buffalo, Maa Durga kills him with her trident and that was the end of him. It is believed that the Mahishasura was defeated and killed on the day of Mahalaya (the 1st day of Navratri).

- Devotees can also be connected to us by Skype or Whatsapp to hear the Sankalpa (devotees must send your skype id or WhatsApp number at the time of booking of puja).
- Small video clipping of Abhishekam of the main deity (or pradhan god) will be sent to you on WhatsApp while the puja is still in progress.
- The video clipping of mantra chanting by priests will be sent during the puja ritual.
- Video clipping of Yajna being performed will also be sent to you while the yajna is in progress.

How do you ensure that the correct number of Japas is being really done by the priests for you or not?

Shaligram Shala puja and Yajna services ensure that each priest takes a Sankalp before starting the puja with betel leaf, betel nut, flower and small qty. of rice. Since all priests are Kashi trained and are initiated, hence once the Sankalpa is taken individually by them, they are bound to complete the stated number Japas positively.
